Chapter 11 Response

1.  I could use CDs and Tapes in my classroom in the future. For instance after my class reads a novel we could listen to excerpts of it that have been recorded professionally.

2. would want a digital projector in my room so I could show slideshows I made in my class. I think slideshows are a great teaching tool. I fund lots of benefit int hem a student. So I would like to display those for my future class.

3. I would like to use a document camera in my classroom. I think it could be used in some very unique was in an English class. Such as projecting books, or papers up for the class to see. People could present handwritten papers this way or even artwork relevant to what we are learning about in the class.

4. I would like to use internet meetings as well for my class. I could set up a specific time in which I would be online and my students could get on and ask me questions on something such a skype or even just and instant messenger.

Chapter 6 Response

After reading Chapter 3 I have gathered that I would like to teach in a classroom that has some digital technology but not to much. Firstly, because I will be teaching high school English (and hopefully theatre and drama), a lot of technology is not needed in that aspect. Also, many of it is not applicable to the subject matter. I would like things such as Smartboards so I could display powerpoints and other things for my students during class. Some computers would be nice to have for students to work on papers and such. However, English is mostly reading and writing. Personally, I dislike ebooks, so I would not transition my class to those if it was even an option. I think we need to stay to our roots with things like that. There is something special about reading from a book, that technology cannot claim for its own. Though, if I did teach theatre, I would need to teach technological theatre which would get into light and sound boards and all kinds of technology.

About Me!

Seeing as you have found my little nook of the internet and you are reading this post, I would assume that you would like to know the ever so cliché topic of "about me." Firstly, you should know that my name is Nick Kannel. I am from Akron, Ohio. However, I attend college at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where I study Adolescent to Young Adult Education with an Integrated Language Arts Specialization. As fancy and confusing as my major sounds, it really boils down to Secondary Education for English. I also have a minor in Theatre. My dream is to become an English and Drama teacher in a high school, who runs the school's theatre department. At Bowling Green I am part of the Arts Village which is a residential learning community for any who loves doing or being part of any kind of art. Though the A.V. I take part in sever clubs and activities offered to members. I am also part of MuTS (Musical Theatre Students) a club based around the love for musical theatre, we put on monthly cabarets, do philanthropy work, and even have a big-little program. I also work as a night-time desk clerk for the lobby of my dorm, checking people in who come back after midnight. Well that’s about all I have to say for now. I hope you enjoyed this educational blurb about myself.
